South Notch Trail
River Drive, Lake Placid

Trail Flowers American Toad

South Notch Trail is an unmarked trail, leading into the Sentinel Mountain Wilderness, from a grassy, overgrown road, which becomes an overgrown trail through wetlands,  just north of the Mountain Academy entrance on River Road, connecting Routes 86 and 73, east of Lake Placid, following the flow of the West Branch of the Ausable River. We had a lovely hike, but lost the trail in a bog, about a mile in.
